DISCOVERY TRIPS
You get to travel with us as we scout new destinations in real time. We stay in multiple properties, test kitchens, meet the people behind the food and design, and build the foundation for future Featherbee experiences. This is behind the scenes access to our process. You’ll stay with us as we evaluate accommodations, plan and test menus, and meet local chefs, winemakers, farmers, designers, and makers. We organize every visit and introduction. You simply show up and take part as much or as little as you like. Before the trip, we ask what you are curious about and what you want to experience. We weave that into the week wherever possible. During the trip, you are welcome to share opinions or simply observe. Both are equally valued. Exploratory by nature. We move between three to four carefully chosen properties to understand the region, the kitchens, and the flow of the area. Some days are full. Some days are slow. You can join every outing or opt out and rest by the pool. Everything included is optional except moving locations when it’s time. You will eat at more restaurants and take part in more experiences than on our later Reserve or Legacy trips. The significant discount reflects flexibility, spontaneity, and a shared sense of adventure. While the schedule evolves as we discover the place together, all planning, logistics, and coordination are handled by us. Think of it as research, immersion, and curiosity led travel with excellent food and very good company.

WHAT IS A DISCOVERY TRIP? A small group exploratory trip where guests travel with us as we scout and design future Featherbee experiences. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THE RESERVE AND LEGACY TRIPS? Discovery Trips are less polished and more flexible. They involve moving locations, testing accommodations and kitchens, and trying more restaurants and experiences. Reserve and Legacy trips are fully dialed in and hosted in a single setting. WHY IS THE PRICE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER? The discount reflects flexibility, changing schedules, and shared discovery. Guests receive up to 60% off our polished culinary wellness weeks. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THE DISCOVERY TRIP? Groups are very small, typically just 8 to 10 guests HOW MANY PLACES WILL WE STAY? Usually two to four properties, staying one to two nights at each. Every trip is unique. WHAT'S INCLUDED? Accommodations, scheduled meals, tastings, experiences, transportation between planned activities, and all curated meet and greets. WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED? Extra drinks, ordering off menu, meals chosen independently during free time, and tips for guides. ARE TIPS INCLUDED? No. Tips are not included and are appreciated for guides and local hosts. This is up to your discretion. DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL ACTIVITIES? No. All outings are optional. You are always welcome to rest or explore on your own. IS THERE DOWNTIME? Yes. While some days are full, downtime is built in and always respected. WHO ARE THESE TRIPS FOR? Guests who enjoy flexibility, curiosity, good food, and being part of the creative process. Discovery Trips are invitation only and extended to past guests and trusted community members whose perspective we value. IS EVERYTHING PLANNED IN PLACE? We plan the framework, logistics, and key experiences. The details evolve as we discover the destination together. WHO ARE THE HOSTS AND WILL THEY BE WITH US AT ALL TIMES? We are Cat + Derek...chefs, designers + artists. Our careers have been built in the kitchen, out in the field and in creative studios. We plan every step of the way and during these discovery trips we will be participating in the activies with you to fully grasp the experience. On the Reserve/Legacy trips we often send the groups out with the vetted guides while we stay back and prepare something special in the kitchen for you.
